About
Hello. I’m VĂtek Urbanec. đź‘‹
TLDR: you can find my CV here: https://squeaky-godzilla.github.io/cv/
I’ve been working in IT since 2008.
I’ve started forming my skills on SAN/NAS technologies (Storage Area Network, Network-Attached Storage).
These are huge storage systems that are built to keep data highly available & consistent.
I couldn’t have asked for better start to my career of reliability engineering, because these systems had the highest reliability requirements and most bullet-proof procedures.
I’ve gotten gradually interested in getting closer to the application side of IT.
You can build very predictable infrastructure, but once you start running services on it, once you let users and customers in, all bets are off.
Apps and services (and people building these) add a lot of chaos. But without them, the infrastructure has no purpose.
That’s why I’ve started intuitively moving to Site Reliability Engineering and DevOps.
To find a way to bridge the gap that often put Operations and Development teams against each other.
It was (and still is) a gap of knowledge, gap of responsibility and different short-term goals.
But the long term goals are the same - happy users, less stress, blame-free culture that enables people to experiment and learn from fails.
I’m offering a range of coaching and consulting services to help you on that journey.
